Paperman is a silent black and white animated film that won an Oscar. The story is about a young man and a young lady falling in love with the help of paper. Opportunities, obstacles, and outcomes are the basis of this love story.
The first opportunity comes on a windy day, when a young man is carrying a lot of papers and is waiting for the subway. A lady stands on the other side of the platform. A strong wind blows a piece of paper onto her face. Her lipstick leaves a mark on the paper. They laugh about it. The second opportunity comes when he sees that the lady has an interview in a building across the street from his office. The third opportunity comes when he puts down his work and rushes downstairs to find her, because he realizes he has fallen in love with her.
The first obstacle is when the man forgets to ask her at the station who she is and where she lives. The second obstacle is that even though he waves his arms and throws paper planes towards her in the building opposite him, she doesn’t see him. The third obstacle is that when he goes out to find her, there is too much traffic and he cannot catch up with her. He walks the streets alone depressed.
Suddenly, a magical thing happens that leads to positive outcomes. All the paper planes he threw out seems to come alive, and they lead him to the one he loves. At the same time, the paper plane with the lipstick leads the lady back to the metro station where they met the first time. They are reunited and will probably love each other forever.
